Admission Exam for Computer Science and Engineering Programs

The candidate’s prior academic accomplishments and the results of the admission exam, which consists of multiple-choice questions based on Pakistani intermediate level physics, mathematics, and English, are taken into consideration for determining the candidate’s admittance to the Institute’s bachelor programs.

At Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Lahore, Quetta, Karachi, and Multan, the test is administered concurrently. The Institute website provides information about the test’s location and general guidelines. Candidates are free to select the testing location of their choice. The chosen candidates receive an online communication via the admission website with the test results.

The merit of candidates applying based on their SAT-II percentile score will be ascertained.

A former student of the Institute may also take the admission exam if their enrolment was cancelled as a result of subpar academic standing. In the event that they are chosen, they will enrol in the first semester as freshmen and might not receive credit for previously completed courses. The admission test may be taken by any student who is presently enrolled in the Institute and wishes to switch faculties. Should they be chosen, they won’t receive credit for previously completed courses.

Exam for Admission to the Management Sciences Program

At exam centers, applicants for admission to the BS in Management Sciences will take the GIK Common Admissions exam (GCAT). The goal of the GCAT is to evaluate a candidate’s suitability for undergraduate studies by measuring their reading, writing, and math skills. In order to compare applicants from various academic backgrounds, questions are made to investigate knowledge and abilities that have been acquired throughout time.

International Candidates

Instead of taking the Institute’s Admission test, international applicants may choose to take the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT-II) in Mathematics and Physics (Math IIC). Candidates may only select one of the two admissions criteria—the GIK Institute admission exam or the SAT-II—and once selected, it cannot be revoked. Candidates risk being dismissed if they submit two distinct applications for admission based on two different criteria.

A transfer applicant from a domestic or international university must have earned at least as many points above the minimal merit of the faculty in which they wish to be admitted by passing the admissions exam of the Institute or the SAT-II (for international applicants). The quality of the applicant’s prior academic work and the availability of seats will determine whether or not the transfer request is approved.

Use the GIK Institute’s registered Institute Code, 0096, to deliver your SAT-II results.

Admissions with Advanced Standing

A candidate for admission with advance standing to this Institute must have been enrolled in a relevant Bachelor of Engineering program at a recognized (PEC, HEC) university, have acquired 15 or more transferable credits, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4-point scale. But in order to be eligible for a bachelor’s degree at the GIK Institute, a student must complete a senior design project worth six credits out of a minimum of 70 credits. In order to be considered for a transfer from a domestic or international university, an applicant must have earned at least as many points above the minimum necessary by the faculty in which they wish to be admitted from the Institute’s admission test, or the SAT-II for abroad students. The quality of the applicant’s prior academic work and the availability of a seat will determine whether or not the transfer request is approved.
